A message from our president....

Hi, welcome to Jewishcaskets.com. My name Is Michael Balshin and I am the founder of Jewishcaskets.com. I want to first  thank all those people that stuck by me and insured me that my idea  of selling Jewish caskets through the internet was indeed viable.

     In my last year of high school. I was at a shiva for a friend of mines father who had past away due to  cancer. I felt really bad for my friend and his family, they told me that one of the hardest thing to deal with was the pressure that they felt  at the funeral home. So I did a little research by obtaining price lists from local Jewish Funeral homes, what I discovered disgusted me. I saw caskets that were for sale for 26 thousand dollars. This made me think about what my friend told me about pressure. How can you not buy the best for your loved one is what probably haunts people. So I decided that I am going to start a company that sells discount caskets on the internet so families don't have to experience that pressure and can make a very important decision in the comfort of their home and even e-mail pictures of our caskets to relatives that live in different cities and can't make it to the funeral home. I did a little more research and found out that in Canada and in The USA it is illegal for funeral homes to Charge extra or not accept a casket from a company like mine. Early on in Jewishcaskets.com's history we could only sell locally made caskets from companies that would sell to us. The problem quickly arose that customers demanded better products, the problem was the big casket companies wouldn't sell to us because they had lucrative contracts with funeral homes, but in late 2001 we solved that problem and are now pleased to offer Batesville caskets. The Batesville Casket company has been around for over 100 years and is the biggest casket manufacturer in the world. This allows us to ship virtually anywhere in North America within a very short time, especially to cities that are not serviced by Jewish funeral home.
